Little Pumpkin

We have some big news to share....

WE ARE PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Almost 13 weeks in, the news is finally starting to set in a little. We have slowly been telling our family and close friends. We LOVED surprising everyone! Here are some of the reactions:

We told my sister, and in-laws that we were just randomly taking pictures. When Chris was counting down to take the picture, he'd say, "1.....2... on 3 say 'Gena's having a baby!'"
(I promise they're over the moon happy, this was just their first reaction)

Sadly, we weren't going to see my parent's for a couple of weeks, so we had to tell them via Facetime. They didn't mind :)

Then, we made a weekend of going to my hometown to share the news with my grandparents. I will be graduating with my master's this December, so I told them they were opening my graduation announcements. Instead of the graduation announcement, this was inside:

My Nana started screaming and moving her feet like Fred Flinstone... it took Popa a few minutes to figure out what was going on. :)

I wish that we would have gotten pictures of us telling the rest of our families. I can't wait to put these in our little one's baby book one day!

***

How have I been feeling, you ask???

Extremely sleepy... and sick. Sick. SICK. :) My husband and sister have made a game out of taking pictures of me sleeping anywhere and everywhere (which is pretty often). I am praying that the 2nd trimester brings some relief from all of this sickness. I can already tell it's starting to ease up a bit. Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus.

Picture overload

For some reason, my husband loved reading this blog way back when I would actually update it. I kind of like having it just so I can keep all of the blogs that I follow in order, but Chris has been asking me to update this blog for months now, so I'm finally getting around to it. This summer has gone by so fast! I can't believe it's almost over. So without further adieu, here is our summer in pictures...

We started the summer off by watching my sister graduate from the best school in the state, OSU..
.. then she moved in with us for a minute..

we kept joking that it was so nice having Amy around because she ran alllll of our errands, cleaned for us, cooked for us, etc. Those things were great, but we mostly just liked having her around. Sadly that didn't last long.
 {more on that in a minute. I'm trying to go in chronological order.}

.. we celebrated my birthday..

.. this man is one of those that pays close attention to you when you say you really like something and then totally surprises you with it as a gift... like the silhouette..

.. Amy, Chris, Rooney & I went to Spiro to be with my family on my actual birthday..

.. and sadly missed this little spider man's birthday. I get to share a birthday with my nephew, Ben, and this year we happened to be out of town for his party. I felt terrible, but didn't think he'd even notice with all of his friends and family around. Wrong. At a pool party a few weeks ago, he called me out on it and said, "Ummm, Gena.. why weren't you at my birthday party?.."

.. In Spiro, we posed for ridiculous pictures on the side of a lone road connecting Spiro and Poteau just to get a picture of Chris with his favorite gas station called Tote-A-Poke..

This is his favorite gas station because of their radio jingles saying, "Tote-a-poke- OH when I get so hungry...Tote-A-Poke.. I could almost eat a donkey.. tote-a-poke.. I want me something crunchy... like a sandwich or a twinkie.. or somethin' cold to drinky... TOTE-A-POKE." And yes, I know the whole song---That's how you'll know if someone is truly from Eastern Oklahoma. We all grew up with that song, and know it by heart.

.. we made a couple of trips to San Antonio to Casa de Belden..

.. spent some time in the Steve's cellar with their little ones..

..Chris' MBA work has been never-ending...

{He's going to kill me for putting this picture on here, but I couldn't help myself when I was browsing the album on my phone. I tied my scarf on his head & came back a little later to find him still wearing it. This is what you call some serious focus.}

.. We attended/hosted a lot of wedding showers, baby showers, weddings, birthdays, etc. My sister-in-law Ashlee gives us a hard time for not attending family events because we're always at some wedding or shower, so as a joke I started texting her pictures of the invites we were receiving..

..not complaining by the way, I live for this kind of thing.

..Speaking of showers, we just had a shower for our new little nephew, Grey Belden..

.. All weddings and showers aside, we have managed to sneak in some time to relax..

You should see the awesome tan line he got after napping in the pool one hot Sunday. Think chevron "v" pattern on his legs.. in hot pink.

If you were wondering, I am in fact passed out on the dog bed here. I laid down to pet our little fur baby & just completely passed out for the longest time. Chris found me like this in my bathing suit cover up and after several attempts to wake me covered me up with a blanket. Turns out that little bed is pretty comfy. Spoiled dog.

Here I am again sleeping in the strangest place- the living room floor? So turns out that after a summer-long struggle to keep my eyes open {among other signs and symptoms}.. I find out that my thyroid is jacked up. Now that things are under control, I am less narcoleptic-like.

.. I started learning how to use my silhouette machine and made this for my dear friend, Laurin.

..the next weekend, I got to be a part of their beautiful wedding where she married her high school sweetheart..

.. then my sister got a wonderful offer to be a graphic designer for some guy in Wisconsin & she up and left. Before we could process it all, she was off..

She is loving her job, and the cooler temps, and being closer to her special guy.. so it's looking like Wisconsin may be her TEMPORARY home. That's what I keep telling myself anyways. Temporary.

... These are a few hilights, but it's almost 5:00 so I'll leave you with a picture from this past weekend..

This picture melts me..

We went to Tulsa to spend the weekend with the Reid's and their sweet baby, Lilly Grace. Chris got to squeeze on her & drink root beer in frosted mugs with Chad until his little heart was content. We loved getting to spend some time with them & as always wished they lived here.

Hope you're having a great Monday!

"No Mo Snow"

How on earth are we almost through February?! This has been such a busy & exciting month. As I looked back through my phone for pictures, I found this little video that I thought would be fun to share. This is how our Superbowl party went this year:

My how things change when everyone you know has little boys 3 years & younger. :) We wouldn't have it any other way though. They are all so sweet & fun!

Chris & I were both home a LOT because of all of the snow that OKC got this year. Thanks to almost 2 full weeks at home (for Chris), we now have several home projects that are in the works. More on that later.

Oh! And speaking of snow.. this was the FRONT PAGE of my hometown paper last week. Yes, I said FRONT PAGE:

"No Mo Snow"

The newest addition to the Waugh family made her little way into the world last Thursday. This is sweet little Ellie on her way home from the hospital..

Don't you just want to squish those little cheeks?! We have also gotten to spend some time with Ellie's older brothers, Ben & Charlie, since she arrived. They stayed at our house last weekend, & then this weekend, we all had a sleepover in a tent, went to the zoo, etc. Chris took this picture last weekend..

Hope you're having a great President's Day!

Thoughtless Thursday

Here are a few quick pictures for "Thoughtless Thursday." We were needing a bulletin board something in our office (because for some reason I love hanging onto cards we recieve FOR-EV-ER) & this linen PB board caught my eye. I found it in the PB magazine, but you can also see it here.
 PB Version: $149 + shipping
.. why oh why are they so crazy expensive sometimes?!

One day I was tricked into going to at Lowe's, and found a ginormous styrofoam board very close to the size bulletin board I was looking for. We took it home and trimmed it to size. I somehow have tons of burlap laying around, so I used it instead of linen like the one above. I cut the burlap a little bigger than the styrofoam, & then staple gunned it.

And then here is the final product.. Close enough for me!

PB board: $149
My board: $10

Total Savings: $139!! Score.

Backstreet's back.. ALRIGHT!!

... and I'm back. When our lives are so uneventful like they have been here lately, I like to wait it out until I can just jam a bunch of info into one post. Quite a bit has happened around here since November. Chris decided for his birthday this year, he wanted to have a "dress up party." If you didn't already know, you could scroll through this blog & know that we LOVE any excuse to dress up (see themed super-hero Halloween party below). Chris is serious about this stuff. He wanted me to send invites with each persons costume assignment. So, in an attempt to not be the party nazi, I sent a suggestion card with some ideas just to make sure everyone was on the same page. Heaven forbid having multiple Christmas Characters at the same party. Here are a few pictures of his bday festivities:

In addition to dressing up, this man is crazy for some snickerdoodles. I found a wonderful recipe for snickerdoodle cupcakes with cream cheese icing. YUM!

Our parents decided to come as the Claus'

The girls group

And the guys..

In attendance, we had a (pregnant) Mary & Joseph, Elfs on a Shelf, a sheep & her shepherd, some Buddy the Elfs, some Cousin Eddys (from Christmas Vacation), abominable snowman, and a couple of Whos from Whoville... the list could go on. You get the idea. We had a blast. And this may just have to be an annual thing. People are so creative!

Chris & I finished up our fall classes, and left with my family for a ski trip the very next day. We went to Crested Butte for Christmas with the Harpers. This trip could be a post in itself, but I'll spare you the details until I get the videos uploaded. Never in my life have I seen so much snow. The snow totals were near 5 feet for the time we were there.

The whole fam-a-lam

For Christmas with my in-laws this year, we tried out something we like to call "The 7 days of Waugh." Each couple was responsible for 2 nights of entertainment & then on one of the nights we would pretend like it was Christmas eve, open gifts.. the whole shabang. This week has been in the works since mid-summer with funny emails being exchanged between family members. We didn't quite make it to seven pre-planned evenings together, but we got pretty close. Activities included a girls spa day, dinner & a movie, bowling, lots of football watching, etc.

Chris with our nephews, Ben & Charlie

Somehow I didn't manage to get a picture of our adorable niece, Carter, so I'm stealing this one from her mom's blog. The cutest little Christmas Diva:

If it wasn't so difficult to upload pictures on Blogger, I would go on. I promise promise I will write again soon, for those of you who like to keep up with this stuff. :)
